Day 3: The Buffalo Hunt (#103-D)

Viola bit her lip as she urged Whinny into a canter. She hoped the mare's fear of the buffali had been assuaged by now. After her near-fall yesterday, she'd decided to lead Whinny around in the buffalo paddock for an hour or so before dinner, letting her sniff them and get used to their presence. It seemed to have worked - this morning, Whinny picked up her lead and plunged into the field of them with no hesitation.

There were so many! The field was positively teeming with buffali. They seemed to think this hunt was all a big game. They ran to and fro, dodging Whinny and and the handful of other horses in the area. Many of them already had several of the harmless, velcro-tipped arrows stuck to their fluffy pelts. She laughed as one galloped by, bucking like a stallion and making chuffing noises through his nose. She nocked an arrow and shot towards him, but it missed by a few inches. Oh well.

There was a mama buffalo grazing with her baby that made an easier target. Vi drew back her bow once more and sent an arrow flying towards them. It stuck! Yes!
